Milk Milk Milk, we always hear the benefits of milk from a small age. Milk contains calcium,  calcium gives strong bones. So milk gives us strong bones right? Well…….no.  In Fact, Milk is damaging to our body.

Latest research shows that the old myth about milk is largely inaccurate, save for the essential milk we receive during breast feeding.

This website has some very enlightening facts, which I will summarise below.

  • In order to ingest Calcium, we need Magnesium. Milk is essentially devoid of Magnesium.
  • Studies have shown that the higher the intake of Dairy in a society, the higher the risk of Osteoporosis
  • Milk is heated, or pasteurized, in order to kill off the bad bacteria and other harmful substances. In the process, much of the good bacteria and nutrients are also destroyed and can clog up the areas in the intestine where the useful nutrients are absorbed
  • If you fed a baby cow pasteurized milk, it would die within two weeks

The list goes on.  Read the article in full for some shocking enlightenment.

This article is very good for highlighting the importance of calcium, but interestingly, the studies they use as an example were of people taking calcium tablets, and not milk, why? why do you think.
